Over the last few years 2009/2010 there has been a significant increase in formalised
pattern flying activities in KZN. This resurgence has mainly been due to the efforts
and organisation of well known RC pilot, Neil Allen of Pietermaritzburg.
In July 2010 (after an absence of some seventeen years) a most successful provincial
championship was held. Following on from the success of this event the Model Aerobatic
Association of SA (MAASA) awarded the hosting and organisation for the 2011 Nationals
to the KZN Pattern Association.
Until recently, the KZN pattern flying fraternity has been operating on an informal
basis however, on 30 January 2011, the inaugural AGM of the KZN Pattern Association
was held and, amongst other things, a constitution was accepted and a committee elected.
The association holds a pattern flying competition approximately every six weeks
at various local club fields.
If anyone wishes to become involved in pattern flying they should contact the association
chairman, Neil Allen on phone 073 231 4141 or e-mail email@example.com
